Jason serves as the Data Project Manager in the Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs. He was previously the Director of Data Science and Analytics at Choptank Transport, where he built the analytics team, data infrastructure, and evangelized a data-driven, scientific approach to decision-making.
Jason came to data and analytics through the natural sciences, earning his MSc from Ghent University and PhD from Florida International University studying underwater microbes and their effect on their environment. Understanding that the accessibility of information is just as important as the information itself, Jason sought experiences in data pedagogy and communication, including a communication fellowship with Frost Science Museum, a position with the University Of Maryland Center for Environmental Science’s Integration and Application Network, and various academic-government collaborations.
When he’s not making charts, Jason is usually renovating his historic home near Patterson Park, volunteering, or riding his bicycle.
